From The Forest, Inc. is a newly incorporated company building businesses that sit at an awkward intersection: the bleeding edge of technology, and a deep discomfort with what that edge has become.

We love what technology can do. But somewhere along the way the defaults changed — software started competing for attention instead of earning it, products started extracting value instead of exchanging it, and the experience of being online started to feel less like a walk in the park and more like a rush-hour commute.

We think it can feel like a walk again.

We have lost our way — the promise of the internet was to decentralize and democratize information. Instead big tech monopolized it.

People are not products.

We do not believe your data should be our monitization strategy. We aim to provide value, in hopes that we earn your business.

We do not hide from new technology. AI is here - whether we like it or not. We choose to embrace it and help shape what it becomes.

How we operate

We build small and ship calmly. We prefer open protocols to platform lock-in. We price our work so that customers can leave at any time — and so that they mostly choose not to. We write things down. We say no to the obvious growth hack when it would cost us the thing we're here to build.

What we're not

We're not an attention business. We're not collecting your behavior to resell it. We don't believe engagement is a virtue in itself. If our software is working, you spend less time in it, not more.

What's next

We're currently building three projects — an agent registry, Orca(stration) AI (an agent orchestration platform), and an x402 payments gateway. Each of them is a piece of the same quiet future: software that works for humans, not against them.
